Monoclonal antibodies

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are antibodies generated from the cell lineage, which are made by cloning of a unique white blood cell. All subsequent antibodies derived in this method can trace back to the unique parent cell. Monoclonal antibodies have monovalent affinity to bind the same epitope. In addition, bispecific monoclonal antibodies also can target to two epitopes by one monoclonal antibody. It is possible to produce monoclonal antibodies with special binding to almost any suitable substance.

Monoclonal antibodies application

Monoclonal antibodies are immunoglobulins, which are made by homogeneous hybrid cells (B cells) with derivation from the same parent cell. mAbs can attach to the specific protein of pathogens or abnormal cell, then inactive the binding or invading ability.

Many monoclonal antibodies are applied to treat cancer, infectious viral, and bacterial diseases. The mAb treatment is a targeted therapy with more specificity and less side effects. In addition, mAbs also can bring T cells close to cancer cells, and assist the immune cells to kill cancer cells.
